Martin Chambers

Martin has written several plays, many of which have been staged by amateur groups. 

His play Mighty Oaks was produced by the Keswick Theatre Club, A Blessed Release was performed by The Black Sheep Theatre Group in 2008.  Pass the Parcel was produced as part of the 2011 Pigeonholes Festival in Penrith. End Piece formed part of the 2012 One Voice Festival – also in Penrith.

His full length, two act play, Ready for Strauss received a rehearsed script in hand performance in May 2013 at The Theatre Royal in Workington.  Currently a short play called Not all it seems is being toured by Fit 'n' active Theatre Company as part of their Selfies 2 programme.


A number of other plays have received script in hand readings. Many of his short stories and his poetry have been published and also broadcast by the BBC. 

One collection of poetry has also been published. His poem Twenty-four hours was selected for an exhibition and was included in the Cockermouth Poets anthology.  He co-wrote The Throstle's Nest which was produced at the John Peel Theatre in Wigton in 2012. Martin is currently writing a short play for the Penrith Players.


Martin also writes crime fiction. Not the Whole Picture was published in 2003. Currently he is working on a themed collection of short stories called The Salt Marsh Chronicles . He regularly reviews the sunday papers on BBC Radio Cumbria.
