Anne’s writing experience extends
over 30 years, starting with feature-writing and magazine-editing* before
progressing to novel-writing and script-writing. She has written six novels
(murder mysteries set in the Lakes) one of which won the 2006 Writers’ Forum
novel-writing competition. Since then she has adapted four of them for
television. One of these reached the 2012
semi-final of the Fresh Voices Screenwriting Competition. However, after
professional advice that one-off dramas are costly to make and therefore rarely
commissioned, she is currently developing a detective series loosely based on
the novels. The pilot for this series reached the quarter-finals of the 2015 Fresh Voices Screenwriting Competition.
Since joining North Cumbria Scriptwriters in 2011 she has developed an interest in writing for the stage and radio. This has resulted in her having 2 x 5-minute plays broadcast on BBC Radio Cumbria and a 3-minute play performed at Bolton’s Octagon Theatre. In 2016 she had a 15-minute play performed at the Kendal Yarns Festival. An adaptation was broadcast by BBC Radio Cumbria in 2017.
For 10 years she also produced a magazine for The Duke of Edinburgh's Award in the North West.
In 2018 she was runner-up in NCS’s Picture the Scene competition. She also had a 15-minute play performed by the Elders’ group at Theatre by the Lake.

I loved your play, 'Dancing Shoes'. I am a member of Team 8 and had the good fortune to see my team perform it at the Town Hall on Gala Day, 30th July, 2016, during Kendal Yarns Festival. I hope you were there too. Hardly a dry eye! Well done!
