North Cumbria
Scriptwriters invite scripts by writers with links to Cumbria on the theme of
‘Act your Age’. Winning plays are to be
performed at Theatre by the Lake, Keswick, and at Penrith Playhouse in spring
2024.
Outline
·
To
enter you must be working in or resident in Cumbria, or a
current member of an organisation with its main base in Cumbria.
·
Plays
must be 10 to 15 minutes long, for up to four actors, on the theme of Act
Your Age.
·
Scripts
for radio, screen or musical performance are not acceptable.
·
The
six plays selected for performance will require only basic furniture, costumes
and props. They will not require scenery or scene changes, but simple effects
of lighting and sound may be employed.
·
They
must not have been previously published or performed for a paying audience.
·
They
will be performed by actors drawn from local theatre groups.
Submissions
·
Submissions
are to be made online by 30th April 2023.
·
Scripts
must be in the English language, as a pdf file with minimum 11-point font, with
pages numbered and a list of characters on the title page.
·
Don’t
use ‘Act Your Age’ as your play’s title.
·
Scripts
must not include the writer’s name or contact details.
·
Entrants
whose scripts are chosen will be informed by September 2023. Performance dates
will be announced in January 2024. Other entrants will not be contacted.
