Monique is a writer of various forms. She mostly focuses on place writing and graduated with a Master Degree in Travel and Nature Writing 2022 at Bath Spa University. She has been published in national newspapers and magazines. She also writes fiction, mostly short stories and dabbles a bit in poetry. Since joining the NCS in 2019 she has been writing a play and hopes this will soon see the light of day.
She is from the Netherlands and has lived in the North of England since 2007. She moved to Wigton in Cumbria in 2018. She married a Yorkshireman in 2022 and doesn't want to leave the country again, apart from travelling of course.
She is an avid open water swimmer and can be found all year around in Bassenthwaite Lake or other nearby lakes. She has two cats and enjoys gardening, walking and drinking anything that starts with a W.
